Darrien Crosby, Scott Aggett & Nestor Moreno purchased the lodge in December 2015 to create a fun, boutique ski chalet that we could enjoy with our friends and like minded travelers, in the beautiful Nagano region. Madarao is located in the northern part of Nagano Prefecture, between Nozawa Onsen and Myoko Kogen.
We were sold on the lodge due to its position within the resort. It is perfectly located for ski in/out activities and only 50-70m away from the children’s ski runs and access straight into the main ski valley. The annual skier numbers here are very low, so you can forget long lift or food queues too. It is an easy 3-5 min walk in either direction to two hot springs (Onsen) and numerous quality restaurants.
Kuma Lodge is the only western owned hotel in the resort and our guests can be assured they will be immersed in Japanese culture. From the local restaurants and shopping to the friendly local staff. The ski lodge has been renovated throughout to create a warm and inviting setting, perfect for guests to relax and unwind after a great day on the slopes.
